DESCRIPTION:Swiss & German Springfest with Eddie Korosa at the Avanti’s Event Center!\n\nJoin us for a Swiss & German Springfest (Frühlingfest) in Pekin, Illinois on Sunday, May 17th from 12pm-7pm at the Avanti’s Event Center, 3401 Griffin Drive, Pekin, Illinois.  Pekin has a rich Swiss and German History and we would like you to join us for a day of culture, German food, music, drink, and entertainment.  Admission is free.\n\nEntertainment will feature Grammy Award nominee, Eddie Korosa, Jr. from 12:30 to 4:00pm and his band from Terry Bredenberg on the accordion from 4:15 on. The Lindenhof Echos (alphorns) will also perform at around 2:00 pm.\n\n\nA German Car and Motorcycle Cruis’n is starting at 12pm.  Special parking area for participants.  All driver’s participating will receive a $5 food coupon to be used that day.  Arts and Crafters will be on site selling items.  To participate in the craft show, please contact Brian Wonders at (309) 346-3663 or email brian@avantisdome.com.  A 10 ft by 10 ft spot is only $30 for the day!\n\nGerman food will be available for purchase.  Our famous Über Schnitzel sandwich will be featured on our menu.  This special sandwich includes our pork schnitzel with sauteed onions and Gouda or Swiss Cheese on a bun.  Also being served:  pork schnitzel, bratwurst, frankfurters (hotdogs), German potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage, German green beans and apfel kuchen.  Make sure you get your Bavarian pretzels with our fabulous obatzda cheese spread!  Food will be served until 6pm unless we run out.\n\nThe cash bar will feature a number of German beer selections.\n\nThe German word for Springfest is, “Frühlingsfest.”  This is an annual family-friendly celebration of the spring season.  Frühlingsfest takes place in cities all over Germany, such as München and Stuttgart, as well as in Switzerland.  With over 1.2 million participants each year, Frühlingsfest makes its name as the largest spring festival in Europe.\n\nThe event is being hosted by Harmonie-Concordia, an affiliate of the Peoria German American Society, and the Avanti’s Event Center.  Additional sponsors include Drew Eilts with Edward Jones in Pekin, the Friends of Friedrichshafen, GlobalFest of Central Illinois and the Tazwell County Genealogy and Historical Society.\n \nWe currently only accept cash and checks for food.  An ATM is on site.\n\nEddie was recognized as the 2013 Chicago Music Awards “Best Polka Entertainer” as well as the 2012 Chicago Music Awards “Lifetime Achievement” recipient.\n \nFor more updated information go to:  www.peoriagermans.net\n\nFacebook Event Link:  www.facebook.com/events/1519293569872678\n \n \n
