DESCRIPTION:Join us for a German festival held in a traditional German Bier Garten.\nFree Admission!\nOn Sunday, July 7th the Peoria German-American Society will be hosting their annual Volksfest at Hickory Grove Park from noon to 8 pm – Free Admission and Parking.  This is a family friendly event.\n\n\n\nVolksfests or People’s Fests began in Germany.  There is typically at least one Volksfest in many larger German cities each year.  German emigrants to the United States brought the tradition of the Volksfest with them.  The Peoria German American Society has hosted a Volksfest at their club grounds since the 1930’s.\nFeaturing:\n\nLive Music\n\nEddie Korosa from Chicago\nAl’s Pals\nLindenhof Echoes\n\n\nA Volkswagen Family of Car Cruis’n\n\nincludes Audi and Porche\nruns from noon to 5:00 pm\nEntry is free\nThe driver or rider will receive a pass good for one beverage or sandwich if they arrive before 2pm.\n\n\nA German gift tent will be open offering a number of imported items from Germany for sale.\nOther activities will include:  \nnagelspielen (German nail game)\nstein holding\nsoccer\n50/50 raffle\nshooting tent\n\nAir gun shooters have the opportunity to earn prizes. \n\n\nA Kinder Park is available for the kids.\nGerman food available including full dinners.  Food to be served that day will include:   \nsmoked pork chops\nbratwurst\nHeidelburgers\nhot dogs\nsauerkraut\nGerman potato salad\ncole slaw\ncake\nBavarian pretzels will be available with a side of Obatzda (a German cheese spread).  \n\nMain food line will end around 6 pm. Sandwich and pretzel booth open longer.\nGerman and domestic beer are available, along with soft drinks and a cash bar.  No outside coolers are permitted.  Only service animals are allowed.\nThere is no ATM on site.\nSponsored by the GACS\nat Hickory Grove Park\nHickory Grove Park 12403 Hickory Grove Rd., Dunlap is just north of Peoria.\n\nInquiries can be made to info@peoriagermans.net\n
