DESCRIPTION:Peoria Kristkindlmarkt at Expo Gardens in Peoria!\nSponsored by Harmonie Concordia\n\nSaturday, November 19th from 10 am – 7pm\nand\nSunday, November 20th from 11am – 5pm\n\nKristkindlmarkts or German Christmas Markets are a centuries old tradition beginning in the 15th Century.  This is typically an outdoor street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent.  Originally the market was held to bring church-goers together to share homemade Christmas crafts such as nutcrackers, tree ornaments, toys, and more.  The Christmas markets have over the year expanded to many other European countries and more recently to the United States. \n\nExperience Old World Christmas Magic at the Peoria Kristkindlmarkt!  The event will be held at Expositions Gardens, 1601 W Northmoor Rd, Peoria, IL 61614.\nVendors will be on-hand until at least 5pm.  Food and beverages will be available longer.  Admission is free.\nOver 35 area vendors will be offering a variety of arts and crafts that are perfect for Holiday gift giving.  All vendors will be indoors.  There will be over 120 seats for dining.\n\nHarmonie will be serving food and beverages, typical of the Kristkindlmarkts will also be available for purchase:  bratwurst, schnitzel, German potato salad, sauerkraut, glühwein, hot chocolate, hot cider, Bavarian pretzels, and German beer.\n\nEntertainment will be provided each day featuring, brass groups playing Christmas Carols, accordion players, piano players as well as Christmas Carolers, and more!\n\nThe Kristkindl or Santa Claus will be available handing out candy canes to the little ones.  Live entertainment from 11am-5pm on Saturday and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday.\n\nThere will be a kid’s activity area.  Kids can write letters to Santa, create ornaments and play games.\n\nOne of the features of this Holiday Market is our Kristkindl or Christ Child.  Kristkindl is the traditional Christmas gift-bringer in regions of Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, parts of Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Switzerland, Slovakia, Hungary, France, Upper-Silesia in Poland, parts of Hispanic America, in certain areas of southern Brazil and in the Acadiana region of Lousiana.\nThe Kristkindl will welcome shoppers to the event.\n\n\n
